biography

Born  in Birmingham in 1952, I've travelled widely both in the UK and abroad, having lived in both Cornwall and Germany, before settling in Cambridge in 1987.

My past artistic influences - given my age, obviously start with the Impressionists and especially Claude Monet moving on to Fauvism; Maurice de Vlaminck, Andre Derain and Kees Van Dongen via Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gaugin. Later influences have included Mark Rothko, Joan  Miro, Pablo Picasso, Antonio Gaudi, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Jackson Pollock, Edward Weston, Patrick Heron, David Hockney and Terry Frost - amongst others!

I have painted for many years and have used a variety of  media, styles and techniques. My desire to paint may be triggered by a place, an event, a piece of music or a book; in fact just about anything.
